Senior Legislative Analyst
National Capital Region
The Hoplite Group is seeking to hire a Senior Legislative Analyst, to support the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict (OASD SO/LIC). OASD SO/LIC’s responsibilities to provide the overall supervision (including oversight of policy and resources) of special operations activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide SO/LIC staff and leadership with expert advice concerning legislation impacting SO/LIC and the wider SOF enterprise.
Provide technical support to SO/LIC leadership on the DOD legislative proposal coordination and approval process.
Provide regular updates and analysis of the status of legislative proposals impacting SO/LIC and the wider SOF enterprise.
Prepare relevant materials and analysis for use in regular coordination meetings with SO/LIC and external legislative affairs teams.
Conduct extensive analysis of legislation, including annual authorization and appropriations bill, and provide detailed summaries to SO/LIC leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 8 years of of Federal Department - level experience working with the staffs of the relevant congressional committees
Minimum 8 yrs of experience drafting congressional testimony for Government officials
Minimum 8 yrs of experience at the Federal Department-level analyzing legislation for relevant equities, drafting, editing, and coordinating input for legislative proposals, reviewing congressional reports for accuracy, conducting research, and presenting information to senior officials
Ability to interface with senior level management
Demonstrated excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to provide technical support and advice
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:
Active Top Secret/SCI
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
Preferred: Master’s degree from an accredited university in any field of study
OTHER:
Travel may be required, CONUS/OCONUS.
Normal Duty Hours – Monday-Friday, 0730-1630.
Mission may require extended shifts or weekend work.
Alternative Work Location/Telework may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
